Description
Serial Number One Flagstaff
Flagstaff, AZ - $5 1902 Plain Back Fr. 606 The First NB Ch. # (P)11120This is one of the greatest Arizona National Bank Note discoveries in the last decade. It brings the number of large size serial number one notes from the 27 issuing charters statewide to a total of just eight. Three of those pieces are Territorials, including a Nogales serial number one Territorial Red Seal which is currently in the Higgins Museum of National Bank Notes. Common Choice CU large size notes from Arizona can easily reach $20,000 or more at auction and pinpointing a value for a Choice CU serial number one note would be difficult were it not for a recent realization for the serial number one from the Yuma National Bank in 2007. That piece, graded Choice in its auction appearance, realized $83,375. The Flagstaff offered here this evening may be a nicer piece. The margins are far larger, the embossing is fully pronounced, and the paper is exquisite. The stamped signatures remain bold, and the note's overall appearance is truly lovely. PMG Choice Uncirculated 64 EPQ.
