Description
New Jersey June 9, 1780 $5 PMG Very Fine 25.A pleasing, mid-grade note which is, condition wise, towards the top of examples we have offered. The first signature on the front is David Brearley's. Brearley was the one of the signers of the United States Constitution and Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of New Jersey. The back features an emblem depicting a hand bleeding after being pricked by thorns with the motto SUSTINE VEL ABSTINE (Either survive or give up). Formerly part of the Midnight Ride Collection, this is a solid VF note that is sure to please any Colonial enthusiast.
