Description

Inverted Third Printing Error Fr. 1913-E $1 1985 Federal Reserve Note. PCGS Very Fine 30.
An appealing inverted third printing is found on this moderately circulated Richmond $1. This note is a Type II invert, not a Type I invert. Type II inverts came into being within the middle of printing Series 1974 $50 and $100 FRNs as the BEP began to trim the selvage paper from the top of the sheet prior to the third printing. Earlier, this trimming step was done after all printings were finished. Type I inverts are from earlier series and the face and back are correctly centered.
