Tallahassee, FL- State of Florida $50 Oct. 10, 1861 Cr. 3B PMG About Uncirculated 55.This note was part of the state's first wartime issue, authorized by the state legislature on February 14, 1861, a scant two weeks after Florida joined the Confederacy and just over thirty days after it seceded from the Union on January 11, 1861. The authorized amount of $500,000 was issued during 1861 and 1862, with an additional $340,000 in 1861-dated notes issued in 1863. This note is particularly appealing due to the snow white paper on which it is printed and bold, but not over-inked, handwritten information. The note is devoid of any toning and ink erosion often found on notes from this issue.
