The demand note in this lot was printed by Rawdon, Wright & Co. of New York and signed by E(dwin) G. Booth and H(enry) L. Rutgers. At left is a portrait of famous British explorer and statesman Sir Walter Raleigh, at center is an illustration of Liberty and Justice, and at right are three cherubs. Two neatly executed hammer cut cancels are present. In September 2023, we auctioned a PCGS Apparent VF 25 example for $288.
