Alexandria, DC- Merchants Bank of Alexandria $20 Sept. 11, 1815 G26 PMG Very Fine 25.Jones-Littlefield estimate a surviving population of perhaps 5-9 notes for this design. We have not previously offered this example which is pleasantly bright, without toning or ink burn. It is in repair-free, undamaged condition. The central vignette depicts Commerce reclining on a large cornucopia beside a shield emblazoned with something resembling the Pennsylvania coat of arms.
