Description
Mobile, AL- City of Mobile $1 June 1875 Gunther-Derby AO-307-$1f Rosene 187E-1 PMG Very Fine 25.Issued about a decade after the end of the American Civil War, this piece was part of a series of emissions put out by the City of Mobile from 1866-75. Originating from the last series, dated June 1875, this note features a young girl's portrait at upper left, a cotton plant at lower right, and a wharf scene at center. Ornate green overprints and a lovely green back which characterize many ABNCo productions, such as the note in this lot, complete the layout. We have auctioned just a handful of this design and denomination previously. Our current offering is free of significant condition detractors.
Estimate: $400 - up.
