Austin, TX- Consolidated Fund of Texas $500 Mar. 9, 1840 Cr. CF17B Medlar UNL PCGS Banknote Very Fine 30.Unlisted in the Medlar reference, this piece represents a number of which we have not previously auctioned an example. The printed "Houston" has been crossed out and replaced with Austin, and "his" is handwritten twice before "heirs" and "legal." The distinguishing characteristic of this variety, however, is the "S" watermarked paper. No forms of cancellation are present on this mid-grade note. PCGS Banknote mentions a contemporary annotation which is nothing more than a penned interest statement on the face at right.
