Description
Charlotte, NC- Bank of Mecklenburg $10 Mar. 15, 1875 PMG Very Fine 30.An interesting post-war bank of issue that took the tack of issuing post notes payable one day after date. The bank failed in August 1875. This $10 bears a 2ยข imprinted revenue stamp and features vignettes of Liberty seated by bales and barrels with a child at her feet holding a scale. Another vignette of a black field hand carrying a basket of cotton while others work in the background is at upper right. A green decorative back carrying a dual ABNCo imprint completes the design. PMG mentions some small edge tears at top center.
