Description
Hackensack, NJ- Stock Security Bank $2 18__ G4 Proof PMG Choice Uncirculated 63.This bank's corporate life was numbered in months. The bank went into operation as a free bank in April 1858 and was placed in receivership in August of the same year. The $2 design features a vignette of two women seated representing Agriculture and Industry titled The Twins at center flanked by a vignette of a sailor doffing his hat at left and the state banking die at right. The note is printed on India paper with four POCs in the signature lines and has faint evidence of previous mounting. There were ten examples of this note in the 1990 ABNCo Archives sale.
