Description

New Orleans, LA- Bank of Louisiana $10 June 14, 1862 G14a PCGS Banknote Very Fine 30.
The bank was chartered in 1824 and remained in business until June 17, 1863, when it was suspended and placed in liquidation by federal authorities. The $10 design features a vignette of America and Liberty standing by a bust of Washington and a federal shield flanked by an end panel at left containing two steamboat vignettes and a vignette of a Native American woman standing holding an ear of corn and a large X. The note has a decorative red-orange back depicting Minerva flanked by two large 10s. PCGS Banknote mentions that some of the handwritten information is a bit faded and that there are some stains which do not overly distract.
