Description

Monroe, LA- Vicksburg, Shreveport & Texas Railroad $3 July 27, 1867 PCGS Banknote Uncirculated 62.
Not to be confused with the wartime issues, this note was issued in 1867 as the railroad attempted to get itself back in business after the predations of both sides during the Civil War. The effort was unsuccessful, with the road going into receivership at the end of 1865, foreclosure in early 1866, and sale to the North Louisiana and Texas Railroad Company in 1868. This note has a dark green underprint of a passenger train and a 3-THREE-3 protector.
