Continental Currency November 29, 1775 $5 PMG Extremely Fine 40.
Part of an issue of $3,000,000 authorized on November 29, 1775, this $5 note depicts a hand being bloodied by a thorn bush with the motto SUSTINE VEL ABSTINE (Either survive or give up) and a nature print of betony and sage leaves on the back. The note is clearly printed on good paper with decent margins and bold signatures of John Bayard, a member of the Confederation Congress, and Samuel Morris. PMG mentions a number of rust spots.
