Description

Buffalo, NY- B(enjamin) Rathbun $1; $2; $3; $5 June 1, 1836 Fine.
Benjamin Rathbun was the moving force behind Buffalo's development in the mid 1830s but his highly leveraged and fraudulently funded expansion plans led to the collapse of his empire. He ultimately was indicted on fraud charges and spent time in prison. All of these notes are in moderately circulated condition but with no repairs or glaring impairments. The $1 has scattered pinholes at left which affect nothing. (Total: 4 notes)
