Description

Auburn, NY- Charles Coventry 50¢ 1837 Harris H13 Remainder PMG Gem Uncirculated 66 EPQ.
Charles Coventry was located on 12 Genesee St. and produced tobacco products. This rare piece could be redeemed for current banknotes of the "Auburn or Cayuga Co. Bank" when presented in sums of five dollars or more. We have auctioned just one other representative of this denomination and design in the past. That piece, which we graded AU, was the Harris Plate Note and realized $172 in September 2003. Our current offering should easily outperform that figure. PMG mentions that the selvage is included on this note.
