Challenging South Dakota State Capital Note

Pierre, SD - $10 1902 Plain Back Fr. 627 The National Bank of Commerce Ch. # (W)4279 PMG Choice Fine 15.
A scarce large-only capital city bank that has seventeen pieces reported in the National Bank Note Census. Bold stamped signatures are of Cashier Harry Charles Quackenbush and President Adolph W. Ewert. They served together from 1912 to 1923 and the bank liquidated not long afterwards in 1925. The last note we auctioned was a PMG Very Fine 30 EPQ that brought $1,800 last year.
