Description
(Henderson), TX- Rusk County $1 Jan. 24, 1863 Medlar 4 PMG Very Fine 20.Rusk County issued notes that were payable on May 1, 1864, paying 8% interest in the meantime. Unlike the notes issued by many other Texas counties, the notes did not indicate what they would be redeemed with (for example Confederate Treasury Notes, state warrants, or current bank notes). This at least gave the county the most flexibility in terms of deciding what would be used to redeem the notes in 1864. PMG mentions that the note is a bit toned.
