Description

Beverly, NJ- Beverly Bank $1; $2; $3 July 4, 1861 Fine.
The bank was a short-lived affair, being incorporated in 1860 and suspending on May 24, 1862. The red and black notes are well printed by ABNCo. The $1 features Liberty or America (as used on the 1861 $20 Demand Note) as well as a large eagle. The $2 features a vignette of two horses frightened by a storm adapted from a painting entitled Black and White Beauties by LeRoy. The $3 features a portrait of a younger Winfield Scott at left, a train and canal scene at center, and a vignette of two little children based on Lawrence's painting The Calmady Children at right. All of the notes are repair-free, with the $1 having a single POC in the upper right corner. (Total: 3 notes)
