Ann Arbor, MI- Bank of Washtenaw $1 (7); $2 (2) May 1, 1854 Very Good-Fine or Better.
This lot comprises seven $1s and two $2s. One of the $1s has a missing upper right corner tip as well as a line of small rust stains running on a vertical diagonal across the note at right center while another has two body holes and several smaller pin or needle holes as well as a notch out of the top margin at right. A third example has a stamp of J(ames) M. Taylor, a broker located at 169 Chatham Square and active circa 1857 according to city directories. One of the $2s has a stamp on the back depicting a rooster and the address No. 2 Dey Street. Cira 1855, the New York Daily News (1855-1906) occupied that address. This $2 has a couple of edge nicks and divots. (Total: 9 notes)
