Description

Russia East Siberia Central Union Consumers Society 100 Rubles 1920 Pick UNL.
The Bolsheviks attempted to transform consumer stores into communes comprised of groups of local businesses in April 1918. At first, participation was voluntary, but was quickly made compulsory. The citizenry rejected the idea and some 45,000 of these local societies and more than 800 unions were nationalized and folded into the Central Union Consumers Society. The Standard Catalog of World Paper Money does not include these issues, which are rare if auction appearances and realizations are an accurate barometer. In late 2012, a 25 Rubles note was offered at auction in Russia and sold for 49,000 Rubles (approximately $1,500). An interesting piece of Russian history that grades PMG About Uncirculated 55 EPQ.
