Japan Greater Japan Imperial National Bank, Yokohama #74 1 Yen ND (1877) Pick 20 JNDA 11-16 PMG Very Fine 20.
A handsome and much above average example of this scarce 19th century issue. At the time of cataloging, there are only 23 examples graded in the PMG Population Report. The Standard Catalog does not differentiate between the different varieties of this type, for which there are many. The center emblem on the front of the note indicates the bank of origin, as do the vertical notations on the back of the note. Interestingly, this specific note was issued from Yokohama, and is the only variety issued from that branch. Most likely among the finest known for this very rare variety. An important opportunity.
