Exceedingly Rare 1000 Pounds Specimen
British West Africa West African Currency Board 1000 Pounds
1954 Pick 11As Specimen PMG Choice Uncirculated 64 EPQ.An interesting and extremely rare ultra-high denomination note that was never issued. At the time of cataloging, this is the only example graded in the PMG Population Report, although it is not the only example extant. Curiously, this Specimen was printed without a date and with small signatures, leaving the central panel at bottom nearly blank. Five small hole punched cancellations are mentioned for accuracy. The first we have offered and certainly one of the rarest banknotes or Specimen ever created for Africa.
