Description

British West Africa West African Currency Board 20 Shillings 30.3.1918 Pick 5b PMG About Uncirculated 53.
An incredible high grade, early type from British West Africa. Denominations of 10 and 20 Shillings were first issued in 1916 and then again in 1918. After that, a slightly updated variety began issuance in 1928. The 1916 and 1918 dated notes are exceptionally rare, as evidenced by how few are known to exist. At the time of cataloging, this is the finer graded of only two examples graded in the PMG Population Report. A fantastic rarity for early 20th-century Africa, and a note in remarkable grade with impressive presentation.
