Description

Finest Graded by PCGS Banknote 1928 $5 St. Louis Star

Fr. 1950-H* $5 1928 Federal Reserve Star Note. PCGS Banknote Choice Unc 63.
This 1928 $5 star note from the St. Louis district is a rarity. Only seven examples have been reported in the Track & Price Census of this number, with our current offering being a new addition to that record. PCGS Banknote has certified just one example of the Fr. 1950-H* star variation, which is none other than our current offering. While PMG has graded seven representatives (likely the seven listed in Track & Price), the firm has only encapsulated one note higher. That piece, which is graded at the PMG Choice Uncirculated 64 EPQ level, is one that we have auctioned twice previously, once in May 2024 and once in April 2020. With ideal ink colors, even margins, and bright paper, the particular note in this lot, which crosses our auction block for the first time, could very well surpass our expectations.
