Rare High Grade Kansas City Red Seal $100
Fr. 1081b $100 1914 Red Seal Federal Reserve Note PMG Choice
Extremely Fine 45.This very attractive example of this rare Kansas City $100 Red Seal is the second finest of just eighteen pieces reported. It features bright, original paper surfaces and excellent color with its only detriment being a solitary closed pinhole. In the halcyon days of 2008, this pretty note brought a phenomenal $74,500 in our auction of The Tom Flynn Collection. While we do not expect anywhere near that realization tonight, this note is still rare enough to approach the five-figure mark. By way of comparison, three years ago in our 2022 FUN auction, we sold a PMG Very Fine 35 example, with pinholes, for $8,400.
