Description

Nicest Fr. 953a to Appear at Auction in 13 Years

Fr. 953a $20 1914 Red Seal Federal Reserve Note PCGS Choice New 63.
Serial number B1063964A made its presence first known to the numismatic community at large when it appeared on a dealer's fixed price list in 1979. Later, our consignor won this New York $100 Red Seal out of an auction in 2012. Inspection of the face reveals that this example is within a millimeter of having perfect centering within balanced margins. Only two Fr. 953a notes are recorded by Track & Price as having equal or higher grades than our current offering and they grade PMG 65 EPQ and 66 EPQ. Also, the piece in this lot is the nicest Fr. 953a to appear at auction since September 2012 when it crossed the auction block to the tune of $6,325.
