Description

Choice Fine 1918 St. Louis $1,000 FRN - One of Eight Reported

Fr. 1133-H $1,000 1918 Federal Reserve Note PCGS Banknote Choice Fine 15 Details.
While not the highest certified representative recorded, this note's well circulated condition is eclipsed by its incredible rarity. All 1918 $1,000 FRNs are elusive to varying degrees, but St. Louis is an especially difficult district from which to obtain an example of this type in any condition. A grand total of eight representatives, including the piece in this lot, are listed in the Track & Price Census. We have only offered two of those examples previously, with one certified as a PMG VG 8 Net and the other as a PMG VF 25. The note offered here falls neatly between those two pieces in regards to grade. Nice color, overall balanced margins, and even wear are all traits exhibited by this example. PCGS Banknote comments on minor repairs and a redrawn portion of the design.
