Fr. 1216a $500 1882 Gold Certificate PCGS Extremely Fine
40.Without question this high denomination note remains one of the finest surviving examples extant for this elusive Friedberg number. Just 34 examples are known to exist with this particular note last appearing in our 2014 ANA auction. PCGS has commented about restorations which undoubtedly refers to a small internal tear visible on the back but well hidden within the Treasury Seal on the face. The gold overprint remains quite bright while the deeply inked orange back certainly impresses. Expect a strong result here this evening for this exceedingly popular type note.
