Description

Fr. 1225e $10,000 1900 Gold Certificate PMG About Uncirculated 55.
A great example of this popular design that is not redeemable, this piece has certainly earned its AU third party grade with a single fold amongst its white paper and ideal inks. It also does not have any of the water staining and/or charred paper that is often found on these notes due to a December 13, 1935, fire at the then "new" Washington, DC, Post Office. We have also noticed that it is payable to the only national bank in the nation without "National" in its bank title, the Bank of North America in Philadelphia, charter number 602. The third party label states that this note is perforated and punch cancelled, which is exactly how this design is often found. All signature combinations for this design were lumped together under one Friedberg number until the 2010 19th edition of Paper Money of the United States divided Fr. 1225 down by signature combination. This $10,000 Gold design encompasses Friedberg numbers 1225a-h. Currently, the population of Fr. 1225e stands at only 22, while 332 examples have been recorded for Fr. 1225h.
