Cleveland Series 1928 $5,000 One of Two Known
Fr. 2220-D $5,000 1928 Federal Reserve Note. PMG Very Fine
25.Serial number D00000112A adorns this mid-grade Cleveland $5,000. It is not listed in Track & Price and this is its first auction appearance as far as we can tell. PMG has graded two Fr. 2220-D notes with both earning VF 25 grades. Our current offering has had a minor restoration which is hard to detect through the PMG holder. The second Fr. 2220-D has toned a shade and is in a comment free holder. It was able to garner a winning bid of $168,000 in 2019. A more recent comparison can be made with the unique Dallas Fr. 2220-K in a PMG VF 25 holder with a restoration comment. It brought $192,000 in January 2025.
