Handsome, Lightly Circulated Large Brown Seal Treasury Twenty
Fr. 372 $20 1890 Treasury Note PMG Choice Extremely Fine
45.An extremely good-looking high end XF that appears to us would be equally at home in a AU holder. Only a couple of minor folds can be seen on this well margined, wonderfully bright Large Brown Seal Fancy Back Treasury Twenty. The only high-grade examples known of this number are five pieces from the first pack, which range from AU to Superb. Below that, the census rolls off the table, with most of the known examples grading 25 or less. Although this note is listed on the census (as an AU), it has no previous auction record. The nearest comparable that we can find is a PCGS Extremely Fine 40 note that brought $18,000 at auction in 2020.
