Description

Fr. 317 $20 1891 Silver Certificate PMG Very Fine 30.
The Series 1886 and 1891 $20 Silver Certificates honored Daniel Manning who served as Secretary of the Treasury from 1885 to March 31, 1887 before resigning due to ill health. He passed away on December 24, 1887. This design continued the philosophy of having lots of white space in the design, particularly on the back. One of the scarcer numbers of 1891 $20 Silvers, with just 64 pieces enumerated in the Track & Price census. This is a well balanced example, sharply printed with bright paper and flashy dark blue serial numbers. Foreign substance is mentioned on the third party back label.
