Brandon, VT - $5 Original Fr. 394 The Brandon NB Ch. # 404A truly rare note, as this Original Series example comes from the first group issued, which bear a blue rather than a red Treasury number. The blue numbered notes are outnumbered by their later compatriots by a 25 or 50 to one ratio, but this variety is not listed in Friedberg and hence utterly unappreciated by the vast majority of collectors. Bright Very Fine+, a premium First Charter with excellent margins and color for the type.
