Description

Attractive Decatur $20 Silver

Fr. 311 $20 1880 Silver Certificate PMG Choice Very Fine 35.
An attractive Decatur $20 Silver that did not emerge from the shadows into the collector limelight until it was listed on a fixed price list in 1979. Its next public appearance was at the Hickman-Oakes June 1987 Memphis International Paper Money Show auction. It would later find its way into the exquisite Dr. Edward and Joanne Dauer Collection. Close scrutiny through the PMG holder reveals that this comment-free example has the appearance of a higher grade. In our last FUN auction, we sold a repaired PMG Extremely Fine 40 example for $13,200.
