Description

High Grade Example of the Rarest of the Treasury Deuces

Fr. 354 $2 1890 Treasury Note PMG Choice About Unc 58 EPQ.
By far the rarest of the McPherson Twos, with Track & Price listing only 60 known examples. Its next closest competitor is the Fr. 355, with 141 notes known. Only three uncirculated examples have ever sold, all in the range of $38,000 to $57,000. This lovely new addition to the census is the first 58-graded piece to cross the auction block since we sold the Tom Flynn note for an astounding $46,000 in 2008. For comparison purposes, in 2018, we did sell a PMG 53 note, with edge splits, for $12,000.
