Gorgeous $10 1923 Legal
Fr. 123 $10 1923 Legal Tender PMG Gem Uncirculated 66
EPQ.A gorgeous 20th century one Friedberg number type note that has all its original embossing, broad margins, perfect color, and tremendous eye appeal. It is from a short run of Uncirculated Fr. 123 notes that have five-digit serial numbers. This piece has had two owners since 1990. Its most recent auction appearance since then was when we auctioned it as a raw Gem New in April 2008, and it has been held by our consignor ever since that time. PMG agrees with our original assessment and more, as this $10 Legal has earned a grade of 66 EPQ. Furthermore, PMG has graded 386 examples of this Friedberg number with only four pieces earning a higher grade than our lovely current offering. All four of those notes were graded only a single grade point higher. The last example that we auctioned at this third party grade was a PCGS 66PPQ that realized $22,800 in October 2022. With a strengthening market, one must be prepared for this perennial popular note, especially in high grade, to surpass that figure.
