Providence, RI - $50 1882 Brown Back Fr. 509 The Providence
National Bank Ch. # 1302 PMG Very Fine 25 EPQ.Certainly one of the highlights of this fantastic Rhode Island collection, this offering is just the second $50 Brown Back to be reported from the entire state. Prior to this evening, the entire high denomination Brown Back population for Rhode Island consisted of one $50, which sold for $10,925 at a 2014 auction while housed in a PCGS Apparent Very Fine 20 holder, and a single $100 that was last on the market in a 1979 auction. Tonight's offering is clearly superior to the other known $50, and features four wide margins, excellent color and signatures, and fully original paper surfaces. This is a great Rhode Island trophy note fit for the finest of collections.
