Fr. 834a $5 1914 Red Seal Federal Reserve Note PMG Gem
Uncirculated 66 EPQ.An amazing note , this one is especially nice. Unlike several of its counterparts, this lovely $5 Red Seal is not from a small run discovered over twenty years ago, but rather, according to the PMG label, traces its provenance back to Barney Bluestone's sale of the Albert Grinnell collection in the 1940's. The sole finest graded example of this Friedberg number by PMG, the overprint is quite impressive and the centering excellent. Ten years ago, which is an eternity in today's market, we sold a PCGS Gem 66PPQ example for almost $5,500. With the ever-increasing appreciation for high-caliber, this well preserved example should certainly exceed that number.
