One of Only Two Examples at this Grade Level from Both Services Combined, with None Finer
Fr. 350 $1 1891 Treasury Note PCGS Superb Gem New 68PPQ.This note is tied with one other at PCGS for top pop. PMG has not yet graded a 68 example. The note is a true beauty and it is easy to understand why the grading service went where they did with their assigned number. The margins are outsized and perfectly balanced on both sides. The colors are as bright as if the note were printed this week and the paper surfaces are replete with original embossing. The note has all of the attributes one would expect at this exalted grade level. Lincoln's irascible Secretary of War Edwin M. Stanton has a softer look on his face in this vignette than we are given to believe his personality would allow.
