Tied for the Finest Graded Fr. 116 to Appear at Auction
Fr. 116 $10 1901 Legal Tender PMG Gem Uncirculated 66
EPQ.A lovely note with evident originality and centering on both sides good enough to easily meet the criteria for the PMG assigned grade. It is tied with just two other Fr. 116's graded at this lofty level by PMG with only one note a single point finer. However, that lone 67-graded example has never appeared at public sale making this beautiful piece tied for the finest graded to ever cross the auction block. Last on the market in a 2009 auction where it brought $12,650, it has received the accolades "Exceptional Paper Quality, Great Embossing & Color." This is a wonderful note fit for the finest of collections.
