Very Rare Rocky Mount Red Seal
Rocky Mount, VA - $20 1902 Red Seal Fr. 639 The First National
Bank Ch. # (S)6685 PMG Very Fine 20.This is one of just two Red Seals reported from this very scarce Rocky Mount bank and the only $20. It is one of only seven notes overall in the census from this charter that was only in business from 1903 until it was absorbed by the Peoples National in town in 1926. Crossing the auction block for the first time, it is a crisp, moderately circulated note with a bold red overprint and attractive two-color signatures. PMG's only comment is about pinholes. Last year, we offered the other known Red Seal from this bank, a $10 in a PMG Very Fine 25 holder, which realized $7,800.
