San Francisco, CA - $5 1870 Fr. 1136 The First National Gold
Bank Ch. # 1741 PMG Very Fine 25.A high grade National Gold Bank Note, this piece is worlds removed from the run of the mill examples that are frequently offered. This is a nicely margined and evenly circulated piece whose colors are unusually bright. The all important gold coin vignette on the back is sharp and well printed. Most importantly, it comes without any adverse grading service comments, which seldom occurs with notes in this series, regardless of grade. National Gold Bank Notes are truly scarce in this grade and higher. In our 2021 FUN auction, we sold a another PMG Very Fine 25 example, also in a comment-free holder, for $9,600.
