Rare Leroy, NY Small Size - Second Note Reported

Le Roy, NY - $20 1929 Ty. 1 The Le Roy NB Ch. # 6087
A great new discovery from this Genesee County bank that, while somewhat available in large, is downright rare in small with just one note confirmed extant. That solitary example was a serial number 1 $5 that we sold in our 2004 FUN auction and which has been in the strong hands of the winning bidder since that time. There have been rumors of a $10 floating around but, like the stories of the Flying Dutchman, until definitive evidence is produced, we will choose to regard the rumors as just another piece of bourse floor gossip. Tonight's offering, however, is no fairy tale as it is an evenly circulated and solid $20 that PCGS has graded Fine 12. For the collectors seeking to assemble a complete set of New York small size notes, this piece is a "must have" and will certainly generate plenty of bidding interest tonight.
