Unique Lake City Note

Lake City, MN - $1 Original Fr. 382 The First NB Ch. # 1740
Minnesota is known for its lakes, more than 10,000 of them. It is no wonder why locales with "lake" in the title are popular among collectors. This Wabasha County bank was chartered in 1870 and operated until 1886, as the only National Bank in town. To date, this is the only known survivor, a piece that spent decades as a highlight of the Melamed holdings. Its paper is bright and attractive for the grade, despite some minor restorations. A deep red seal and serial numbers are also noted. PMG Very Fine 20.
