Description

Rare & Desirable Juneau Small Size Note - New to the Census

Juneau, AK - $10 1929 Ty. 1 The First National Bank Ch. # 5117 PMG Very Fine 25.
The ultimate note for any set of state capital examples, or for any state set for that matter. It comes from by far the scarcest of Alaska's three small size issuers, and from the only bank in this remote state capital. A mere fourteen Series 1929 examples are listed in the National Currency Foundation census, but that scant total does not include this $10, which is being publicly offered for the first time. It is a crisp, well margined note with PMG adding its nebulous comment "retouched" to its holder. A perusal of auction records reveals that virtually all small size offered from this capital city charter over the years have realized a five-figure price.
