Description

Finest of Three Known

Auburn, NY - $5 Original Fr. 397a The National Exchange Bank Ch. # 1351 PCGS Very Fine 30.
First Charters and Brown Backs only were issued from this bank, which went out in 1888, a particularly bad year for Auburn's banking community, as the First National in town also fell into receivership that year. Just three notes are recorded in the census, including this very attractive Original Series Five which is the finest of that trio. It displays vivid color, solid margins, and bold pen signatures with only a handful of light folds.
