Brownwood, TX - $10 1902 Red Seal Fr. 615 The Citizens National
Bank Ch. # (S)8312 PMG Very Fine 20.A great new discovery from a Texas locale that was once an important cotton growing center and at one time or another supported no fewer than seven issuing banks. Tonight's offering is the first reported Red Seal from this charter. As this was the only bank in Brownwood to issue Red Seals, this $10 is, therefore, unique for the type for this community. It hails from a charter that closed in 1932 and which has barely a dozen large size reported. There is some staining on this crisp mid-grade piece, but the red overprint remains bold and the penned signatures are quite legible.
