Excessively Rare Spring Valley Large Size - One of Two Reported
Spring Valley, NY - $20 1882 Brown Back Fr. 504 The First
National Bank Ch. # 5390 PMG Choice Very Fine 35.This wonderful note hails from a highly sought after Rockland County bank which had an utterly minuscule issue of large size notes and which had just $300 outstanding in 1935. It is one of just two large size notes reported from this community's sole charter and the only one of the pair to have ever crossed the public auction block. It is a pen-signed beauty with excellent color and loads of eye appeal. With the other known note, a Serial Number 1 $10 Brown Back, tied up in a major collection of Number 1 New York notes, this $20 may be the only opportunity for a collector to acquire a large note from this bank for many years to come.
