Description

Chicago, IL - $20 1902 Plain Back Fr. 661 The Roseland National Bank Ch. # 12605 PMG Very Fine 25.
This note, from the collection of Richard L. Boyce, appears to be an anomaly, as Chicago lies some 450 miles west of the New York border. As your cataloguer mentioned in the introduction to Richard's collection, he and his dad owned the Roseland Amusement Park in Canandaigua, New York. When Dick found out that there had been an issuing bank in Chicago with a Roseland title, he endeavored to find a large note, and after several years, finally obtained a more than acceptable specimen. This piece was obtained privately and is not in the census, and its offering here raises the total of large notes from this neighborhood bank to six from five.
