Newly Discovered Location Postal Note

Montague, TX- Postal Note Type I $1 Feb, 1, 1884 PMG Very Fine 25.
Previously unreported as a location in any Postal Note Census. Montague's post office was established in 1860, and at the time of issue for this piece, the population "in town" was about 400 residents. It wasn't until 1886 that the town was incorporated. With advances in Postal Note research, particularly by Kent Halland, we hope this area of collecting becomes much more popular. Some tears are noted, but are obscured by the holder.
